Well it has been our first week in the new studio and I cannot say how much of a difference it has made to my whole approach to my portraiture. Since Studio Bluefish closed I have been shooting, it seems, with one hand was tied behind my back. Don’t get me wrong, we really got some amazing portraits at our old location, but it has been difficult at times to get the natural and playful look to my images with a roll of paper hanging off the wall and less than three meters for the children to run on before being too close to the lens to focus. I was really tired of just “making do”
The new Outwide House location has brought excitement for where we are and what we do, re-kindled the creative fires and given Penny and I focus and determination to be one of Wellingtons finest portrait and wedding photography studios.
Pop in for for a visit and join in with our excitement. You are all welcome! Also watch this space for details on our grand opening weekend and some more exiting news coming very soon from Inspire Photography.

Rebeccea and Ryan were married in Island Bay at the beautiful Erskine Chapel. They enlisted the help of Paula, wedding planner and venue decorator from Belle Vie, which guaranteed their wedding day went without a hitch. You also might recognise Rebecca as Hayley’s sister, who’s wedding we photographed back in October in Whanganui. Rebecca’s parents, of Bristol Plants and Seeds, again provided the wonderful table decorations of potted colour. Dara Wakely did another fantastic job with the girls hair and makeup.

It was a misty day in Wellington for Delis and Erik’s wedding, however both took it in their stride and we had a wonderful time documenting their wedding in an original way. I say original because I took photos of the boys all dressed and ready to go at Parliament before I turned up to take photos of the girls getting ready. Once the girls were ready I then took their photos in the same locations as the boys. Later, after their Old St Paul’s wedding, we returned to Parliament and finished with the whole bridal party and then more intimate moments between Delis and Erik. We finished up at the newly renovated Boat Shed on Wellington’s waterfront. Delis and her bridesmaids looked fantastic in dresses by Voon bridal, Dara Wakely did her usual fantastic job with their hair and make up and the beautiful flowers were by Juliette Florist.

It was with great delight that Simon and I photographed our good friends Hayley and David’s wedding in Wanganui. Hayley shone with happiness all day and looked radiant in her dress by Brides on Thorndon. Lucky for Hayley and David, Hayley’s parents are experienced gardeners and provided all the small and large flower arrangements for the wonderfully chic reception at Heritage House. We wish our friends all the best in the coming years and look forward to sharing more happy occasions with them.

Well, I have just been away for a week and popped in to the studio space to check on its progress. Wow is all I could say. Things are really taking shape there now and you can get more of a feel for the space because of the walls giving us the shape/outline of what we imagined. We are getting very excited.

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing my good friend and excellent make-up artist Hil Cook. Hil and I have worked on many weddings together and she always creates beautiful and timeless looks for her brides. Hil has invented the fantastic Solution Buds. They are cotton buds filled with makeup remover so you can correct little makeup smudges caused by mascara and eye shadow. She originally made them for her make-up artists to use on high definition tv and movie projects, but soon realised she was on to a winner and I couldn’t agree more. You can by Solution Buds from New World supermarkets and many chemists are stocking them too. Rush out and get some now.

It was a beautiful winters day for Rachael and Bruce’s wedding. For the second time this year I took photos in the lush surroundings of Wilton Bush, you can see more images here. Rachael and Bruce and their combined families wisely had their photos before their ceremony at Wilton House. With daylight savings gone the light is better earlier in the day and having photos done before the wedding lets couples stay with their guests for all of the wedding. Wilton House provided a fitting venue for a winter wedding, with the ceremony conducted in front of an open fire.

Rachel and Rene’s small, intimate, family wedding was the perfect setting for my 150th wedding. Thank you to all the couples who have helped make up that 150. That’s 300 people I have taken photos of as they declare their love for each other and say “I do”. Here’s to the next 150 weddings.

Jules is a good friend of mine, and I was recently lucky enough to photograph her and Bridget’s small and intimate wedding. They were fortunate with their wedding venue at Otari Bush in Wilton, as the weather held off long enough and there was no nasty Wellington wind to contend with. They both looked fantastic and we had a great deal of fun taking photos around Civic Square and in Wilton Bush. Their reception party really took off at Red Square on Blair Street. Thanks guys for a fun day.

It was a fine and sunny day for Suzanne and Craig’s wedding at Erskine Chapel in Island Bay. I met Suzanne at Is Bliss Salon and Spa for hair and makeup before going on to the Lighthouse in Island Bay to get ready. Erskine was perfect, as it always is. We had time for a picnic in the gardens and then we nipped down to Island Bay for some beach shots. Suzanne’s beautiful gown was by Wedding Belles and her lovely hydrangea flowers were arranged by Susan White Florist on Taranaki Street.
