When Lachlan was all of two hours old I had the honour of holding him, when he was three weeks old I had the privilege of photographing him. So tiny and perfect. It also meant that I could create the album that I had been planning all along. That of Tanja, Jarrod and Liana and then the little family once Lachlan came along. A perfect keepsake for little Lachie.

It was a gorgeous day under the huge old trees in the gardens of Ruth Pretty’s in Te Horo for Julie and Seby’s wedding. It is a magical setting ideal for fun and creative photography. Once on location the bridal party had no reason to leave the venue, which meant less time away from their guests. We photographed well until the dancing started and I am sure the party went on in to the wee hours, when we left everyone was having a ball.

Well it has been our first week in the new studio and I cannot say how much of a difference it has made to my whole approach to my portraiture. Since Studio Bluefish closed I have been shooting, it seems, with one hand was tied behind my back. Don’t get me wrong, we really got some amazing portraits at our old location, but it has been difficult at times to get the natural and playful look to my images with a roll of paper hanging off the wall and less than three meters for the children to run on before being too close to the lens to focus. I was really tired of just “making do”
The new Outwide House location has brought excitement for where we are and what we do, re-kindled the creative fires and given Penny and I focus and determination to be one of Wellingtons finest portrait and wedding photography studios.
Pop in for for a visit and join in with our excitement. You are all welcome! Also watch this space for details on our grand opening weekend and some more exiting news coming very soon from Inspire Photography.

Just before Christmas I photographed Allblack Cory Jane and his wife Amy for the Woman’s Day magazine. I was lucky enough to photograph the family a year earlier, so it was nice meet them again a year on and I hope I will be lucky enough to photograph them again when baby number three arrives. Cory very kindly donated an Allblack training jersey for our Special Olympics quiz night this year. Pretty much an all round great guy.

As promised here is part 2 of the expanding Dove family. Late last year I had the Doves in for family shoot number two. We did this when Tanja was about 7 months pregnant, this is a good time for a pregnancy shoot as the belly is a beautiful shape. Liana, who was nearly two, pretty much led the show. Installment 3 coming soon…

Late last year I had the honour of photographing Irene van Dyk and her family. What an inspiration and an incredibly beautiful woman, inside and out. She has achieved so much and I dare say will achieve a great deal more. The shoot was for New Idea and was their feature story for their first magazine of the year. Irene you rock.

Ok, how many weeks have we been working from my house now? Feels like a lot more than we really have. Work on the studio seems to have slowed down, I know it hasn’t, but because a lot of work is behind the walls and in the ceiling it feels like not a lot has happened. But we have chosen the carpet, we are close to deciding on lighting and the plasterer is in right now doing a sterling job on all the new walls. Our move in date of today is a pipe dream, but we have a wonderful team doing their darnedest to create exactly what we want. Big ups to Tony and his team.
