We are pleased to announce we have signed up for a new studio space. After three years of blood, sweat and tears at our old space we are extremely excited about our move. Our new space on Taranaki Street is bigger, brighter and better than our old Fifeshire location. Plus we have the fun task of fitting it out exactly how we want. Over the next few weeks we will be posting images of our studio as it takes shape. We hope to be operational in our new space by mid-December, will this be a reality??? In the meantime we are in a temporary location but fully operational. Please follow our progress.

Last night I presented 10 slides in 10 minutes at our local monthly nz ipp meeting. I chose to present ten images from the 2009 Special Olympics National Summer Games, which is near and dear to my heart. I have been involved with the Wellington Special Olympics basketball team for the last four years and I also help the National office with photography when ever and where ever I can. Keep an eye out for a selection of images from my winter escape with athletes at the South Island Snow Camp which I will be posting soon.

Recently I had the enjoyable job of photographing Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie at their Wellington home for the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly. I have photographed Miranda at home before, however this was the first time I had the pleasure of photographing Stuart too. The shoot coincided with the National tour of their show Biography of my Skin, an entertaining and astute production receiving rave reviews. You can see from the photos Miranda and Stuart don’t take themselves too seriously; I particularly like the image co-starring one of their chooks. This is one funky couple.

One of the perks of being a photographer is meeting a variety of people from all walks of life, and even being able to peek inside their lives. Recently Penny had the opportunity to photograph Mark Paston and his family for the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly. Mark had recently returned with the All Whites from their hugely successful campaign at the football World Cup in South Africa. Mark and his wife Amy have a wonderful little boy, Jack, and the two hours spent with them was relaxed and fun. Not only is Mark an exceptional goalie but he is also a humble and generous man, kindly donating his anthem jacket (and signing a football) for the local Special Olympics basketball team, where Penny is a volunteer. Many thanks to Mark and family!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing my good friend and excellent make-up artist Hil Cook. Hil and I have worked on many weddings together and she always creates beautiful and timeless looks for her brides. Hil has invented the fantastic Solution Buds. They are cotton buds filled with makeup remover so you can correct little makeup smudges caused by mascara and eye shadow. She originally made them for her make-up artists to use on high definition tv and movie projects, but soon realised she was on to a winner and I couldn’t agree more. You can by Solution Buds from New World supermarkets and many chemists are stocking them too. Rush out and get some now.

Rachel and Rene’s small, intimate, family wedding was the perfect setting for my 150th wedding. Thank you to all the couples who have helped make up that 150. That’s 300 people I have taken photos of as they declare their love for each other and say “I do”. Here’s to the next 150 weddings.

Good friend of ours, Kate McPherson, recently gave up a month of her time to help out at a school in Ethiopia. Armed with a hand full of digital cameras and bucket loads of good will, she set about teaching photography to the kids. Check out some of their impressive results here: http://www.eyesfromethiopia.com/

Hello everyone and welcome to our new website and blog!!
Will be putting information about what we get up to in our day to day life at Inspire Photography (Hopefully some interesting stuff as well.) We will try and keep you all up to date throughout the wedding season, portrait sessions and different events.
What we tried to do, and hopefully it worked, was to make the website as simple as possible, but with all the wedding and portrait galleries prominent to visually promote our work then information later. Let us know what you think.

I eventually got my butt into gear and submitted some images. See Below.
Here is the comments made on these images by the Q Judging Panel
“The photographer has presented a beautiful range of work.
The panel particularly liked image 2 of the young couple holding the baby and considered it to be beautifully composed, lit and demonstrated good interaction between the subjects.
The overall printing quality is of a very high standard.”
